That Lonely BBD

Thank you all for your sweet comments about my 3 problems on Friday. And an especially big thank you to everyone who encouraged me to get that Cheesecake Factory! I'm going to be letting DH know how you all feel ;)

I didn't find any time to pick up my current stitching project this weekend as I had hoped. I'm working on BBD's "Something Sweet." I started it over 2 weeks ago, but haven't touched it in over a week. So it's only got 1 week's worth of work put into it - which isn't many hours considering I have 2 small children. It will get some quality time this week I hope. Pay no attention to the stairs. I will be fixing that mistake! Oops.

We had a good Father's Day. Cuddle Bug and I got up and made Daddy the usual Father's Day breakfast of cinnamon rolls. When they were ready we woke up Daddy and Ladybug and all had a wonderful breakfast. We gave Daddy the gift we had prepared for him. Then we loaded up into the car and drove to Ironton, Missouri to spend the day with some family. It was wonderful and low key. I finished up the day very sick. I think I had become terribly dehydrated in the heat. My head was pounding and I was dizzy and tired. I guzzled a bunch of water upon returning home, took a bunch of advil, and laid down to close my eyes for a bit. 2 hours later DH woke me up to nurse the Ladybug. I felt terrible to have napped so long on Father's Day, but I was really not feeling well at all. DH assured me he didn't mind.

This is what we gave Daddy for Father's Day (one of the rare moments you will get to see a picture of the bugs or see their names on my blog):

I have a question for all you wonderfully helpful seasoned stitchers out there in blogland. I am stitching my BBD project in a hoop. I find it makes my stitches more even and consistent than stitching in the hand. But it's leaving ring wrinkles in my fabric and I'm finding it impossible to iron them out. Since I'm using hand dyed fibers, I can't get it wet to force the wrinkles out. Any suggestions???

Well that's about it around these parts. I hope everyone else had an incredible weekend! Sending you all wonderful stitchy wishes!

What a great present for the dad in your life. Love the scrapbooking details!

As far as removing hoop marks...it's really hard. You can dry on high heat several times (takes more than once). You can also put your piece in between a pillowcase, use the steam setting on your iron to blow the steam onto your pillowcase covered piece and let the steam clear before applying the pressure of the iron onto the piece. If you use a hoop, you really need to remove it after you are done stitching for the day to avoid the hoopmarks. I would suggest investing in a Q-snap...no marks and further protected if you put strips of felt in between the fabric and the clip part. Good luck!

BBD is looking great. I love the houses.
I use hoops, q-snaps and scroll rods. When I use hoops I spray a few spritz of water on my piece and iron, I have never had them bleed, (knocks on wood)
I hope you are now feeling better and that card is fabulous.

Cheesecake sounds real good right about know! Thanks for your comment. It has been way to hectic and crazy at our house. Maybe it will calm down emotionally for me. I have used up 2 boxes of kleenex in less than a week. I'm gonna have permenant puffy eyes. Paper crafting is so much fun!

Kim, what a lovely gift for your dh! Sorry you were feeling badly on Father's Day. I use a qsnap, so have no idea on the hoop marks, best of luck with that!

I only use hoop with punchneedle. I like the q-snaps much better as the linen seems tighter & the marks are usually on the edge of the stitching. If I have a larger sampler - I use scroll rods.

Good luck. I hope you can figure out a way to ease the hoop marks away.

Kim,

No idea on the marks left by hoops...I usually stich in hand or on a scroll rod.

The gift ya'll made for dh/daddy is awesome. Such a creative and thoughtful idea! Gianna got Marc a silver bracelet. She's got him wrapped around the finger..may as well be the wrist too! : )

If you can't find any takers on Cheesecake Factory, head west and I'll treat!

Good luck with your hoop marks. This is why I switched to Q Snaps (which I love!).

That's a lovely father's day gift. Much better than the tried and 'true' tie or socks. I got mine a lawn mower. He assembled it on the living room rug. No, I definitely like your scrapbook better.

Q-snaps at Hobby Lobby are going for about $13-$18, depending on the size. They don't mark up the fabric like hoops.

What a treasure for Daddy! He's a lucky guy. Your children are adorable.

You are really branching out in tackling a BBD. Just think how far you've come. I have the same problem with hoops. I have used Q-snaps but find them awkward to maneeuver, so I usually just stitch in hand and hope that my tension isn't too loose. I'll be reading your comments for more tips!

BBD is sooo pretty. Stop using the hoop ASAP! :o The Q-snaps is what you really want. Also, you need to take your piece off even the Qsnaps when you finish a stitching session to prevent creases from forming. Really hard to get the hoop marks off once they've set in. I'm so sorry. What a darling Daddy Day gift!

I do use hoops but take them off every time I finish stitching for the day...Q snaps are great on the delicate fabrics.
Good luck with the marks!!

What an absolutly wonderful fathers day present! So sorry you were feeling unwell for the end of it

I use either scroll bars or q-snaps instead of hoops

Not sure if that helps any

Congrats on your first BBD, it's looking beautiful!

P.S. - that is exactly why I don't use a hoop. I use q-snaps. The hoop rings are really hard to get out. But there are stitchers that swear by hoops too.
