I am happy to report that I got some (fairly) adequate stitchy time in over the weekend! This is where LHN's Poinsettia House stands to date:
I made it out to JoAnns yesterday to pick up the 3865 DMC I had run out of. No one seemed to notice on my last post that the last row of snow on the rooftop was only half cross stitches! But I've replenished my supply so all is well.
I promised some pictures of my recent sewing adventures in my last entry. So here goes.
This is the library book bag I made for Cuddle Bug using this tutorial.
He picked the fabric out himself and I think he did well! I made the library card pocket on the front extra deep so his card would fit deeply in it and wouldn't fall out when he bends over. I call this one a success! He loves to take it to the library and fill it with new books. And Daddy got a hook to hang it in his bedroom so all his library books would be tucked away there instead of getting mingled in with his huge personal library!
Now despite the fact that I make an effort to not post pics of the bugs on my blog - because I'm a crazy neurotic mother - I can't bring myself to crop off LadyBug's face on this picture to show off the dress I made for her to wear to the family Christmas Eve gathering. So for your viewing pleasure....
It's red corduroy - soft and comfy. This was my first time sewing in a zipper and I would call it a good first go! Next time I know what I would do differently. And check out those butt ruffles! I added those myself since the pattern didn't have them. I absolutely love how this dress turned out! And I made it a little bit bigger so hopefully it will still fit for Valentine's Day :)
I hope everyone else had a great weekend! Happy stitchy wishes to you all!

Wonderful stitching progress on Poinsettia House.
Love the library bag you made...and how handy the card pocket on the front is! And LadyBug's dress is darling (as is the little Lady herself!) Congrats on your sewing successes!
PS. I'm neurotic about posting images of my kids too...that's why they're always faceless, lol ;)
Your progress is great so far, Kim :)
OOOH, LAdybug is such a cutie :) I love her dress :)

Cute library bag too...love the red dress for Ladybug! The ruffles are adorable!
Ah! Love the library bag with the extra pocket for the card, you can tell the bug is standing tall and proud with it.
The other little bug is adorable in her red dress.
You have two awesome finishes there and soon Poinsettia House will be finished too.
I don't think you can be too neurotic in this time and age, too many goofballs out there
Definitely waaay too cute to have her face cut off...LOL!! That adorable, slightly mischievous little smile just makes me grin! Looks like you new creations are a hit all round!!

And, yay, your son loves the library! As a librarian, I love seeing kids who are library lovers from a young age--it really does make a difference... Now with his cute bag, he is going to want to go there even more often--just perfect :)
